Nigerian gospel star Mercy Chinwo shares Confidence single ahead of new EP

‘Confidence’ was released alongside a Pink Line Films-produced video, which reflects its author’s journey toward self-discovery, growth and faith, and delivers a message of hope and encouragement that will motivate listeners to overcome any obstacle with positivity.

“Mercy Chinwo has faced a number of experiences that have left her feeling disheartened and uncertain of her abilities as a musician, but through her faith, she emerged stronger,” a statement reads.

The singer rose to fame in 2012 after emerging as the winner of the second season of Nigerian Idol. She signed with EeZee Conceptz in 2017, releasing her debut album The Cross My Gaze in 2018. Her second album Satisfied was released in 2020.

Mercy Chinwo has won several accolades, most notably a African Gospel Award for Best Gospel Artist in West Africa in 2018 and a Nigeria Entertainment Award for Gospel Artist of the Year in 2019.

Among Nigeria’s most sought-after gospel artists, Mercy Chinwo is behind hits like ‘Excess Love’, ‘Na You Dey Reign’ and ‘Obinasom’. In 2021, Africa-facing streaming platform Boomplay’s wrap-up report named her as among the top three most streamed female artists of the year.
